Friday March 27th 2015. Osnabrück. 25 km

Rainy weather. I didn’t see the sun even once. Wind and rain in the back, fortunately. Saying goodbye to children Laurens and Felix, to Serge’s parents Gonny and Niek, whom I first had met in the South of France. Serge, again on his way to his job in Germany, dropped Mignon and me in Ibbenbüren.

Thursday March 26 th. 2015 Ibbenbüren. 27 km walked

Today we hiked to Ibbenbüren, a name easy to remember because it sounds like the name of the widely used painkiller ibuprofen. I wanted to follow the Töddenweg. I did make some detours. Using the GPS, I made a lot of abbreviations, perhaps sometimes less beautiful roads, or with more traffic, but I walked more

Wednesday March 25th 2015. Bad-Bentheim – Rheine. About 26 km

Gonny and Niek were so kind to bring me to Bad-Bentheim, where I asked at the Informations Bureau how exactly the Töddenweg was indicated. Do you want to speak Dutch or German, asked the friendly man behind the counter. I chose Deutsch because Übung macht den Meister.( practice makes you a master). It was nice

The bedroom of son Felix offered me a good night. It has frozen, but the sky was blue. Mignon and Felix offered me to stay a couple more nights at their place. I could then walk today without luggage, Hengelo, Oldenzaal to Bad Bentheim in Germany. Because Serge works near Germany’s Osnabruck, he can pick

After a passionate goodbye to José Siep I went cheerfully en route. Nice and cool, a faint sunshine. But soon it seemed fair in hell and later we were delighted with prolonged downpours. Reason enough to have a stop at Landal Park Braamtsche in Braamt to treat ourselves to chocolate with whipped cream and a

Yesterday an of course pleasant stay at college friend Cees and Leonoor’s in Nijmegen. Excellent lasagna dish of which they allowed me to take extra unabashedly. I do believe 2 or 3 times. Apart from a few regular beers and non-alcoholic drinks I also got a whole bottle of cola and water for the night.
