De eigenaar bleek verwoed visser My landlord loves fishing

Net als overal in Spanje wordt ook hier gekaart Just like all over Spain people here also play cards

Oude schaapskooi door gemeente in ere hersteldOld sheep barn, restored by the community

Vlak land, hier met veel bosflat country with many woods

Onprettig lopen langs de wegwalking along the road is not safe

En niet zonder gevaar

Soms over bospaden. Kan Tosca los, maar wel modderigSometimes paths in the woods, muddy. Tosca can run free.

Soms over rustige fietspaden Sometimes quiet bycicle roads

Vandaag 15 km langs drukke weg. Loopt lekker door. Tosca afleren naar auto' s te blaffen Today 15 km along busy roads. Walks fast. Opportunity to teach Tosca not to bark to passing cars

De berm wit van de hagel Side of the road, white of hail

Tosca onder de regenparels Tosca covered with hail pearls

Ook de Aller uit haar oeversRiver Aller inundating

So, there we go again today. Begin of the second part of my trip. Because I’m about half way: about 3700 km. Obviously I do not stop. Just kidding! Yesterday was April 1st. Throughout the day, highly variable weather: pelting hail, gentle sun, sometimes rain. The first 15 km. I could let Tosca run free, and she really did. After my first 15 km Tosca had finished her first 30 km already. But my second 15 km. was constantly on the bike path along a not very quiet road.  Witnessing the spot of an accident makes me still more careful. See picture. Tosca has a habit of barking to and running after passing cars. That scares me and also the drivers. Along such a busy road, I get a beautifull chance to teach her not to do so. Each chance should be taken. Coincidence exists less than you think and happiness you have to force a little bit. So I happen to be lucky that I found a cooperative horse and a good dog just before I left. Luck and chance?
Walroden is a nice town. Quite some houses are declared a monument. There is a tourist information and everything around is touted. We are at the edge of the Lüneburg heaths, as far as I know one of Germany’s largest moorland areas. I see a lot of forests.
Arrived at my guesthouse, Hannover, Lange str. 5, Tosca may be taken into the room, though I’m not very enthusiastic about that, because often she jumps on the beds or destroys sheets etc. But Tosca lies down and does not move anymore, while I write down my story on the I-pad. OK. than. This afternoon I had a good snack for a few euros and now I’m looking for something similar  for tonight. One year of junk food is unhealthy but for just one year it won’t harm, I assume.
Without a horse, hardly anyone adresses me Not that that’s bad, but it just is remarkable. With a horse all this would be completely impossible and I could also not get along as quick. So I’m not sorry for my decision to leave Leon home. Furthermore, I do not have much to report. Tomorrow 24 km. walk to Soltau. Then 5 hours on the train to Aachen, towards home.
At
Soltau I’ll reach the E1 trail. That is the major North-South route crossing Europe from Southern Italy to Cape North in Norway. The signaling of this track was supposed to be finished last year. I’m curious. E-1 passes all of Sweden, while I will take a different track, through Norway because that country is daughter Marieke’s new homeland. But through Norway is hundreds of kilometers more.
Now it’s bedtime. I ate at a Greek who was not Greek, but Kosovariaan (no lizard so) for less than 10 E my tummy completely stuffed
Forgot to say that regional TV-station Omroep Krijtland devoted a 17 min. long reportage to Mama Alice of  Frederique Kallen and to my journey. Not bad.
