Today Rudi E. was going to film us. So I had to pack pony Leon. But because the battery of my car was empty and therefore the door was locked, we could not go away with the horse trailer. Then we’ll walk in our beautiful own Dutch hills instead of catching up a skipped stage in Belgium. The predicted bad weather wasn’t that bad. Even quite some sun. I hum “sch\u00f6n ist es auf der Welt zu sein, sagt die Biene zu dem Stachelschwein etc., learned from Betty.
\nThrough scenic routes, where we climbed quite a few altimeters, we, that is Ruud B, Marjan and I, walked through Wahlwiller to Trintelen. Photos of a nicely trimmed tree. On to the parents of Marjan in Eijserheide. Ruud and I took off our shoes to leave them outside so that any “dung” (mud) only could come from Marjans shoes. Mud of own children’s shoes is always less serious than from others. From Marjan’s parents I learnt that many people live of mud: corn, beets, weat, etc. grow in it. Long live the mud. A man who occasionally helped me with a dragline, originally from Epen, Jos H, often noted that today there was much “mud in gen e\u00eb’d” (a lot of mud in the soil). I’m starting to believe it too. If, like me, one has learned to play for doctor, one lacks this kind of wisdom.
\nAt Marjan’s parents we got soup, waffles, coffee, ate our sandwiches, chatted and we had a good time, the way I like it. Passing Eijs, Nijswiller, Hilleshagen and Melleschet we got back home. 1 Km. before home I released pony Leon for a moment in the woods, because I had to fullfill a natural urge. He thought now or never and sneeked away. He knew his way around and flew over a fallen tree, downhill, out of the forest, on the road and sprinted at full gallop home. A passing tourist advised to call the alarmnumber 112. I can always still call the police if it proves to be necessary later. Peace and tranquility can save you. Better to just calmly walk home. Indeed our gentleman was grazing along the path in front of our house. On the way home I picked up 2 pieces of plastic debris as a contribution to a cleaner environment (learnt yesterday). Home another pie and coffee \/ tea.
\nThe last days I have already been making preparations for the onward journey. I received two emails from men who operates a ferry across the Dutch rivers Maas and Waal: Horse Leon is allowed, but preferably not on the ferry. Allowed, but rather not. So yes!
\nAnd thus ends my report of the trip today. The countless details that fill the day I will leave away because they are not directly related to my journey.
\nAlong with Sonja we had diner at the “tea garden” in Camerig, Vijlen, Epen, nowadays called “Buitenlust”. Warm welcome by waitress Angelina. During my renewed acquaintance dinner with my Sonja we met a man like an oaktree who was still unknown to me, William. An interesting giant who had many connections with my network. So the evening was not only nice but also interesting.<\/p>\n
