Yesterday, the distance was\u00a0all together\u00a0still 40 km, because when the landlady drove me back 15 km. to look for\u00a0Tosca’s lost teletact I wasn’t yet at the beginning of yesterday’s trip. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>That would have been fatal to my Singapore boyfriend , Reave. <\/span>Today the walking distance <\/span>will be 50 km according to my guide,\u00a0but will rather be\u00a0a small 40 I assume.
\n<\/span>The sun was shining and at last most of the day last I could\u00a0walk without a coat again. <\/span>Hey, hey!
\n<\/span>At restaurant \/ tavern in Bergmanssskroa Melda on km.point 18 today, I thought it was time for my first stop. <\/span>It was 1.30 pm: lunch time. <\/span>In between, no\u00a0opportunity to steal\u00a0any snack. <\/span>A very nice lady served me. <\/span>Are you a pilgrim? <\/span>Yes. <\/span>You can get fish soup. <\/span>There is a remnant left, for you half price: still 9 E. A l\u00e0 (O.K.)\u00a0then, if\u00a0you can add some\u00a0bread. <\/span>Because since I had\u00a0breakfast\u00a0I hadn’t had anything yet. <\/span>I\u00a0invite her to\u00a0come\u00a0outside\u00a0and\u00a0to take\u00a0a seat for a moment.\u00a0Arms covered with<\/span>\u00a0tatoes, a rather heavy\u00a0sized lady, 32 y. old, and very kind and helpful. <\/span>And brown eyes, which\u00a0is special here. <\/span>She talks about her cats. <\/span>Hey idea! <\/span>In a month I want to fly\u00a0up and down to my country, to take our then newly born grandchild\u00a0in my arms, as well as her mother, our daughter Lilian. <\/span>But where do I leave Tosca that week? <\/span>I will then fly from Trondheim, so my question\u00a0to the most charming waitress is\u00a0whether she knows a dogs a<\/span>ylum in Trondheim. <\/span>Within five minutes she comes up with a list of dogshelters in and around Trondheim. <\/span>You have to be fast, she says, because around that time holidays will start here.\u00a0In case you really <\/span>can not accommodate the dog, then you need to call me again. <\/span>Maybe she can also stay with us, but we have cats, so it is somewhat difficult. <\/span>Europeans\u00a0not kind?, the Canadian said. <\/span>Who dares to say so? <\/span>I only met nice people, even from Asia! <\/span>Tosca gets\u00a0a tip of a\u00a0Tompouce from her\u00a0and then I get fed the rest. <\/span>Woof woof.\u00a0Next she<\/span>\u00a0brings some pieces of cake for Tosca.<\/span><\/p>\n

The route: beautiful, forested, snow on the mountains in the distance, nice weather, again\u00a0certain parts\u00a0on cliff goat paths in the woods.
\n<\/span>But the real cross today was the plateau. <\/span>Juzzus, M\u00e1ria, Joezef! <\/span>The road climbed higher and higher through the forest. <\/span>Getting more wet and less clear. <\/span>Tree roots, shelves here and there\u00a0over the water, more here than there. <\/span>Yeah, hey, I’m not a homing pigeon. <\/span>How do I find\u00a0the road here? <\/span>This is a bog, one and all swamp. <\/span>After a while I made no effort to keep my feet dry. <\/span>My Goretex Meindles were soaked. <\/span>The path split into various animals paths. <\/span>Some pieces were churned up by a tree harvester machine and\u00a0definately no official route\u00a0was visible\u00a0more. <\/span>It was\u00a0getting later: after six and the two addresses\u00a0in about 10 km. where I\u00a0<\/span>could stay\u00a0did not\u00a0respond, despite calling five times and five times recording the\u00a0voice mail. <\/span>It slowly became a bit uncanny.\u00a0In the<\/span>\u00a0evening it gets cold and getting lost in the “High Fens” You may have the honor\u00a0to serve the scientific world in 2000 years,\u00a0if you happen to be found as interesting bog body, but that was not the purpose of this trip. <\/span>It\u00a0kept going on. <\/span>After several hours, I was a bit\u00a0descending from the high bog planes, I\u00a0met\u00a0a lady\u00a0jogging with her dog. <\/span>Oh,\u00a0fortunately\u00a0dwellings in the area, I think.\u00a0She <\/span>probably\u00a0had come by\u00a0car\u00a0because the next hour\u00a0I didn’t\u00a0see any home. <\/span>Still no response to the recorded voicemails. Seven thirty<\/span>, eight o’clock. <\/span>Tosca\u00a0had a ball.\u00a0Everything splashed delighfully<\/span>. <\/span>She ran like a puppy! <\/span>From left to right, dragged muddy branches up and down against my pants. <\/span>Jumping around me\u00a0when I bent over to drink water, so I was soaking wet and\u00a0dirty and the\u00a0water too muddy to drink.\u00a0<\/span>As I walked on a shelf I had to release her, because chances were\u00a0she would\u00a0pull me over. <\/span>Very difficult. <\/span>She barked a while uncontrollably\u00a0far away from me. Chasing a traced <\/span>moose? <\/span>If I can not find a shelter in the hamlet Skaun around\u00a09 pm.\u00a0I’ll have\u00a0to c<\/span>ontinue another 13 km., or\u00a0put up the tent. <\/span>Tent? <\/span>At a few degrees above zero degrees C? <\/span>And rain predicted and a dirty dog? <\/span>I call daughter Marieke here in Norway,\u00a0if she understands what the voice mails of\u00a0my night shelters say. But <\/span>Marieke doesn’t get more information than I do. <\/span>Finally I descend from the marsh on the plateau and\u00a0finally I reach the outskirt of the village.\u00a0Let’s <\/span>\u00a0ask the farmer there, who<\/span>\u00a0has a few nice stubbors (originally granaries on legs). <\/span>Perhaps I may sleep there. <\/span>No that does not work. A story about his new chicken farm, partly made possible by a Dutchman.\u00a0Some<\/span> Jansen. <\/span>Whether I know him? <\/span>He’s calling and calling and finally he says, just go to the pilgrim shelter in the parish house down here in the village and there\u00a0will be\u00a0someone in a moment. <\/span>I am\u00a0sitting there waiting for half an hour, eating my last sandwiches,\u00a0I feed Tosca, but nobody shows up. S<\/span>uddenly\u00a0the chicken farmer\u00a0passes\u00a0on\u00a0his tractor. <\/span>Another long story about his heart attack on his 42th and that he worked too hard etc. etc. Again\u00a0he called with his handy\u00a0a lot. <\/span>Result: but put your tent up here next to the parish house and kindergarten. <\/span>The caretaker comes tonight between\u00a010 and 11 pm. to\u00a0<\/span>open the parish house, so you can shower and pay 7 E. And you can go back back into your tent clean. <\/span>Do I have to\u00a0sleep in a tent here on this little elevated\u00a0terras,\u00a0 right at a crossroads,\u00a0where everybody can see me, to be<\/span> awakened at 11 pm\u00a0for a shower and tomorrow at 8 am. k<\/span>indergarten, waking me up with a lot of yelling and noice?\u00a0Very nice<\/span>. <\/span>But yes,\u00a0it is\u00a0the way it is. <\/span>Hey, there in the parish house is someone inside. <\/span>The working maid? <\/span>I knock on the window., Tell her my story. <\/span>She begins to call again. <\/span>O.K., you may enter. <\/span>We put on a stretcher, but first I want to finish cleaning before I let you in. But the sweety puts a can of coffee in front of me<\/span>.\u00a0Very possibly I will not catch s<\/span>leep, but a thermos of coffee, though it isn’t strong coffee, is not to be despised. <\/span>I was far from finishing my meal and my coffee, when at around 10 p.m. <\/span>a nice gentleman of about 70, enters the building. <\/span>I’m the head administrator. <\/span>Would you like to see the church across the street? <\/span>To be decent\u00a0I said yes, but in fact I am\u00a0still really\u00a0hungry, have not updated my blog yet, didn’t yet respond to my SMS’s. <\/span>So this\u00a0will be\u00a0another short night, with coffee in my blood, and tomorrow\u00a0will be\u00a0another long day and today was more than 40km.
\n<\/span>Now I must say that his story was very interesting. <\/span>It started when the ice age 100,000 years ago and the influence of the ice ages on the surrounding landscape. <\/span>And then King Olav, who brought Christianity here in 1035 ??? <\/span>The Vikings, the first archbishop of Trondheim, the architectural styles of churches etc.\u00a0At the end I was glad I\u00a0had gone with him,\u00a0though tired and busy because of all the work\u00a0I still had to do (blog, text messages, tomorrow’s route).
