After a good night in a farm guesthouse “de Hofkamer” in Halle during the superfluent (?) breakfast I checked the route on the i-pad. I listed all street and city names on a scrap, payed the landlady, took a picture of the two of us and off we go. With my belly well filled with 3 coffees and a glass of orange juice I have to endure until well into the afternoon. I liked being outside, though cold, but fortunately no rain. After 15 min. of walking, I looked for my route-notes. I have about 10 plastic bags in which are my clothes. Although there is a certain order in the content of each bag, it is possible, of course, that the road list carelessly may be tucked out of my bag. Difficult to monitor all potential sites, especially with the two straps of the backpack on my shoulders, strap of the dog leace around neck and shoulder and wearing a jacket on top of my vest. The phone rang: Sir, on the breakfast tabel I find a paper with route notes. Do you still need it? Absolutely! I’ll bring it to you by bike. Where are you walking? Another angel. Many a wife (not mine !!!) would think: the dummy. Let him find out himself.
\nAnyway, the road was clear and easy, though long and hard, on asphalt. So I always had to hold my walking partner Tosca, because of possible traffic.
\nHalf of the population has a dog, the other half hates it, it seems. More and more signs everywhere about dog’s poop. Even special dog poop areas. Understandable. But when you consider how much chemical junk we spray on our bodies, including among others armpits, how many chemicals we spray down the toilet, rather than to open the window, how many tons of manure are dropped on the land and end up in water ditches, and finally that horses are allowed to poop in the road, then the anti dog poop signs at the road make me wonder though. photo.
\nJust before Eibergen a car stops . I got used to it, but normally it was always about pony Leon instead of me . And Leon is not there anymore. Hey Harry ! I say “Hey, Jolanda’ . Well, isn’t that a coincidence? Jolanda and my dear ( Sonja ) met at a course in the middle of the country, about 15 years ago. They always kept in touch. Jolanda and Henk have been living happily in Haaksbergen. OK. A few minutes later I’m down in the armchair , waiting for the necessary shot of caffeine . We talked about Henk’s former pigeons, about the current children and grandchildren, Henry’s former motorcycle , about how life is like at this age : delicious ; about my experiences . Soon they will celebrate their wedding anniversary. They gave me a pair of gloves. I met their neighbor who came in to tell that her mother quietly faded away . Henk accompanied me a while through Haaksbergen . And thus ended another great interlude on my route today.
