Sunday February 22nd 2015. Vijlen 2 km.

9 am Breakfast. Then picking up horse Leon in the riding school in Oignies-en-Thierache (what a name), in Northern France, where Leon had been resting from Tuesday night. We accepted a long drive home through the sunny Ardennes. After a long search for a suitable lunch occasion, we finally sat down near my home address, viz, in restaurant le Barbeau in Sippenaeken, 2 km. from my home. In Belgian Sippenaeken we were already awaited by Rudy, one of the filmmakers. Next followed a serious separation from the group of my office. Marietje and Thomas had done a great effort to prepare a horse trailer, bringing food for dog and horse, an enormous bone for Tosca, hay, an unopened pack bedding for the bottom of the trailer etc. etc. All this on top of a very busy week, during which Marietje also had to replace our colleague’s office in the village and moreover had to look after her own sick children. What an energy and stamina. I was lucky again that I was spoilt by their good care.
From cafetaria le Barbeau in Sippenaeken I ran, again with my Tosca and Leon, the last 2 km. home. This dramatic part was filmed by Rudy. At home, I was greeted by the family, that was there in honor of Sonja’s birthday and they knew not until this afternoon that I would arrive. Great fun. Meanwhile, another text message from two people who come to join me on Tuesday. That’s possible, because I have to catch up for the remaining kilometers home that I skipped with the car. Well why do people inflict so much trouble upon themselves. But no need for infrastructuring and without fear of traffic because of the horse, it’ll be a delicious walk. See you …
