In France 2nd Christmas Day is not celebrated. Is basically a normal working day, although many people don’t work today, because it just happens to be a Friday. Fortunately there is little traffic while I have to walk alone again and have to control everything with my 2 hands. Unfortunately my friend Constance is back home, but I’m glad tonight son Servé will strengthen the ranks. I just do not know at what time. My telephone does not work in many places. Today I had it turned off all day to safe the battery. Worthless, I can’t book anything, no inn reservations for tomorrow and so on. At 6.30. Con had a bit fresh bread. After a short breakfast her bus left at 8am and so did I. The pilgrimage route ran through the city. I hated it, so I decided to find an alternative route with GPS. Beautiful quiet forest roads, paths, hamlets, nice weather. No trouble finding the way. Arrival in a jewel of a hamlet. The only bar present also owned the pilgrims inn, where of course was nobody. So I might as well take Tosca inside the inn. Back to the bar again I finally had wifi, for the first time in a few days. I could call Servé with the mobile of the bar owner. For the 9 km. from my inn to the station I took a taxi. Around seven o’clock I was dropped off at the supermarket, 500 m. away from the station. At 8.39 p.m. the taxi would come back to pick up Servé and me. So from 7 till 8.39 I had time to buy food for my supper before the arrival of Servé, buy 4 kg. of dog food, get drinks etc. and with my bag stuffed I walked on to the station. All purchases done I notice that here in town, my mobile phone is working again. Great. I was happy to reach Servé: he missed a connection in Bordeaux. He was not going to arrive at 8.30 PM, but at 11.30 PM. What would I do now? From the taxi driver I had already understood that there are no taxis at the small station. If there is a restaurant, I can eat there and may be there is even wifi internet and then it’s no great problem waiting three more hours. I called the taxi, which was ordered to come back at the station at 8.30 p.m. and asked to come back three hours later, at 11:30 p.m. With a backpack, my I-pad, and between 5 and 10 kg. of luggage I arrive at “le gare”. No restoration, no wifi, only a slightly disturbed man who adressed me and wanted to discuss in a rather demanding way alleged political abuses. Meanwhile my belly began to itch. Then I decided to go home with the at 8.30 p.m. ordered taxi. And asked if the good taxidriver, wanted to be so kind to bring Servé at 11.30 p.m. from the station to my inn in village Bourgues, where I would await them. And so we stay busy.
Furthermore, not much to report from this quiet, beautiful day.
Example of a road through the wilderness . I often did not hold on Leon, but he always stayed near me
