Today Rudi E. was here for filming. Tuesday is the child guarding day for Sonja. She drives 40 min. to Lanaken in Belgium to guard two of our grandchildren. In the evening I usually go there and we have diner all together. On the road from Lanaken back home I see a man standing in

Thursday March 5 2015 Visiting son Miel’s family in The Hague

Granddaughter Sienna in The Hague How does it feel to be home again? Relaxed, because no stress of finding shelter, food, care for animals. The sports club warned me that I first had to chase away this strange bird from the house, but probably the window had been open: I didn’t find one single feather.

27 February 2015 Cottessen/Vijlen-Eijs-Trintelen and back to Cottessen Vijlen again

Today Rudi E. was going to film us. So I had to pack pony Leon. But because the battery of my car was empty and therefore the door was locked, we could not go away with the horse trailer. Then we’ll walk in our beautiful own Dutch hills instead of catching up a skipped stage

Thursday Febr. 26th 2015 vacation home Cottessen 0 km

Around the 14th of March I’ll leave on my way North, walking the Dutch Pieterpad to Oldenzaal and Borne in Twente, Overijssel, Netherlands. Hence the Handelsweg / Wittekindweg to Osnabrück in Germany. 14-24 April I’ll get company in Germany and also from 9-16th of May, but then near the German-Denmark border. The blog will resume

Tuesday February 24th 2015. From Theux to Henri-Chapelle, 28 km

Dawn is golden, is a Dutch saying. I looked outside. Instead of gold I saw thick snowflakes. At 8:30 Marjan, Ruud and I, along with Tosca, got out of the car in Theux. My aim was to make up for one of the skipped stages. You know how it is with the village gossip: if

Monday February 23rd 2015. Home in Vijlen to Epen and back. 7 km

After inspecting my Scottish highland cattle, bison, cats and dogs, but again the plunge and hoping for visiting Jan Jansen. I know two Jan J’s in the same village. One JJ’s is in my sports club, but I went to the other one. The other JJ drew comparisons between my journey and the Jewish people

Sunday February 22nd 2015. Vijlen 2 km.

9 am Breakfast. Then picking up horse Leon in the riding school in Oignies-en-Thierache (what a name), in Northern France, where Leon had been resting from Tuesday night. We accepted a long drive home through the sunny Ardennes. After a long search for a suitable lunch occasion, we finally sat down near my home address,

Saturday February 21st 2015. Durbuy. 19 km.

Because I only got breakfast at 8.30, the hostess first tried to pin me at 9 am, I could leave only late. My colleagues from work would arrive in Durbuy 18.6 km. from here, around 11. Covering that distance in two hours is too much for me. Maybe I could do it in 2.5 hours,

Friday February 20th 2015 Marche-En-Famenne more than 20 km

Today is drizzling rain again. After breakfast the gruppo sportivo drives me to the end of yesterday’s walk, Houyet in Belgium, about 60 km. from our current lodge in Haybes, Northern France. There in Houyet I get dropped, but not after first of all entering the same bakery-patisserie where we yesterday had coffee with “festering
