Another walk today, 16 miles again. It rained cats and dogs a few times. As long as you’re not cold the rain is not a great problem, though I must admit I prefer a litttle sun. I didn’t tape my feet, and though my feet were soaking wet, no blisters. Before the day trip started Joep, the dog, was limping a little, but he finished the trip without problems. However now he is much more quiet than usual.
I am more worried about Luka who walked with very stiff feet again and regularly stopped walking. In fact we did walk on very stony paths and sharp gravel roads many times. Is it his laminitis? Did I put too much strain on him? Yesterday I have been riding him non stop for 30 min. He’s not used to that. Did he get too much food? Better using plastic(?) hoof shoes again. That will also show how fast those will wear off. I always wander without map. This time in the beautifull surroundings of Aachen, Oirsbach, Lemiers, Vaals. We walked 3.3 miles/hour. But if you include the stops it’s 2.65 miles/h.
I asked a few people’s opinions about my idea for a farewell-/sponsor party. Most reactions are positive. So I guess I will do that, last sat. of sept. 2014 in Wahlwiller.
